With castle and countryside, highlands and history abound, what better way to encounter the real majesty of the North of Wales than abroad 2 great trains snaking their way past castles, mountains, Welsh heritage and historic industrial sights.

Snowdonia is a region in northwest Wales concentrated around the mountains and glacial landforms of massive Snowdonia National Park. The park's historic Snowdon Mountain Railway climbs to the summit of Wales's highest mountain, Mount Snowdon, offering views across the sea to Ireland. The park is also home to an extensive network of trails, over 100 lakes and craggy peaks like Cader Idris and Tryfan.

Your Hotel

The Royal Victoria Hotel is uniquely located close to Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon, within 30 acres of our very own gardens and woodlands, which include the historic castle of Dolbadarn.

Being cradled between two lakes Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris as well as the Welsh mountains our location is quite simply breath taking, and the Snowdon Mountain Railway is right opposite!

A beautiful hotel with well-maintained original period Art-Deco features, particularly the stain glass windows throughout the hotel. The 104 fully equipped ensuite bedrooms at The Royal Victoria Hotel are designed to offer you somewhere comfortable that you can really relax in. We can't quite make it as cosy as your bedroom at home - but we do try our best!

The Welsh Highland Railway

The Welsh Highland Railway is Snowdonia’s most spectacular railway. Trains start a spectacular 25 mile scenic journey from beneath the castle walls at Caernarfon.

Portmerion Village & Gardens

A visit to Portmeirion, the location for the 1960s British cult television series 'The Prisoner', is a unique and memorable experience. Located near Gwynedd in North Wales, it is often referred to as 'a home for fallen buildings' as buildings of every architectural style, both from Britain and abroad, were dismantled, transported here and rebuilt. Perched on its own peninsula surrounded by woodlands and beaches, this colourful and charming village is based on a miniature Mediterranean piazza, with buildings and archways, of which there are many, painted in a wide range of pastel colours. The 70 acre sub tropical woodland garden has over 5000 species of plants including unusual rhododendrons and camellias, Californian coast Redlands, a New Zealand ‘dancing tree’ and the tallest Chilean mayten tree in the UK.
